Royal Palace of Madrid

 

Built in the 18th century by order of the first Bourbon King of Spain, Felipe V. It is considered as one of the best decorated Royal Palaces in the world.

 

We will visit the "Official Rooms" like for instance: porcelain room, gala dining room, main stair case, Royal chapel, etc...

Descalzas Reales Monastery

 

It was originally the palace of the minister of finance of the Emperor Carlos V.

 

Built in the 15th century, became a cloister monastery at the time of the Princess Juana (sister of the Emperor).

 

Nowadays the nuns continue with the same traditions as 5 centuries ago. The monastery received the award of best European museum, in 1987.

Encarnación Monastery

 

Placed near the Royal Palace of Madrid, It was founded by Queen Margarita of Austria in the 17th century, it was a retreat destination for many Augsburg Princess.

 

Today this monastery is best known for its famous Reliquary, one of the most important in the world, it is famous the relic of San Pantaleón, whose blood liquefies the feast day of the saint.

Pardo Palace

 

Used since the Middle Age as a hunting residence of the Kings of Spain.

 

It was built in the XVI century and refurbish in the 18th century, in neoclassic style, by order of King Carlos III.

 

Highlight especially impressive tapestries, many of them based on cartoons painted by Francisco de Goya.

 

We can also admire one of the few portraits of Queen Isabella, painted by Juan de Flandes in the 15th century.
